Making the most of old electrical and electronic products
NVMP: the organisation behind it
The Dutch Foundation for the Disposal of Metal and Electrical Products ("NVMP Foundation") has been committed to collecting and recycling electrical and electronic products since 1 January 1999. We do this on behalf of the manufacturers and importers that put the appliances on to the Dutch market. NVMP has established a nationwide system to collect and recycle old appliances as efficiently and environment-friendly as possible. These activities satisfy the legal requirements contained in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Management) Decree of the Netherlands. To make the system possible financially, consumers pay a disposal levy on some new appliances.
Product foundations
On 13 August 2004, the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Management) Decree (BEA) came into effect for both consumer appliances and professional equipment.
The NVMP Foundation has set up a collective disposal system for the collection and recycling of discarded equipment covered by the Decree. All producers or importers may affiliate themselves to the Foundation.
They can do this by participating in one of the following foundations:
• White Goods Foundation
• Brown Goods Foundation
• Foundation for the Removal of Central Ventilators
• Foundation for the Disposal of Electrical Tools
• Foundation for the Recycling of Metal and Electrical Products
• Netherlands LightRec Foundation
